The future success of our city depends on our ability to diversify our economy.
The up to $5 million investment announced Friday in Windsor by Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, is key to helping our region move forward with a creative, coordinated and strategic approach to boosting innovation and nurturing entrepreneurship.
The funding will be made available to the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation to support a range of activities to support businesses and entrepreneurs across Windsor-Essex County in partnership with the University of Windsor, St. Clair College, the Windsor Essex Regional Alliance and others.
This is an exciting opportunity for Windsor and Essex County to not only build upon our strengths, but do so with a view to the future. We know that continued economic prosperity in our region depends on our ability to be innovative. It also requires a strategic and concerted effort by everyone.
We recognize that diversification does not happen overnight. It requires a long-term strategic approach.
The Government of Canada recognizes that as well. I want to thank Parliamentary Secretary Mendicino, here today on behalf of Minister Navdeep Bains, and FedDev Ontario for this investment in our future.
