WINDSOR — Mayor Drew Dilkens was joined by County of Essex Warden Gary McNamara in hosting a roundtable discussion at the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation between local business leaders and Omar Alghabra, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade Diversification, on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.
Representatives from various industries, including agriculture, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, automotive and education, were invited to meet with Mr. Alghabra at the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation to discuss the opportunities and challenges they face when it comes to expanding their businesses across international borders. In Canada, one in six jobs is related to international trade.
“Trade is an important economic driver in Windsor and we are home to unique enterprises and talent that would be of benefit to global markets,” said Mayor Dilkens. “I thank Parliamentary Secretary Alghabra for listening to the concerns and suggestions of our local business leaders as they look to diversify their customer base and seek new opportunities for growth in international markets.”
