Windsor is filled with citizens that care about our community. They volunteer their time to help others and often times put the needs of the community before their own. They do so quietly, never looking for recognition. I recently had the opportunity to meet one of these community champions at the Northstar Cultural Community Centre. Don Hamel has spent years picking up garbage in the McDougall Avenue and Erie Street area. Regardless of weather – Don scours the streets and parking lots every day, looking for litter. He made it very clear to me that he feels caring for his neighbourhood is his calling. I didn’t think it was possible to feel more proud of Windsor, but meeting Don took my pride in this City to another level. Thank you Don, for caring for your neighbourhood.
