Windsor’s City Council and their special guests presented a light-hearted look at what council may have looked like 125 years ago. Hint: women did not vote or sit on council in 1892. This was a fun evening as all councillors appeared in costume as their fictitious ancestors. The evening’s highlights included Councillor Gignac leading a delegation of suffragettes demanding votes for women, Councillor Payne in a wig as the youngest member of Council and a plea from Councillor Elliott on behalf of the local black community.

The script was written by Christopher Menard, Cultural Development and Willistead Manor Coordinator at the City of Windsor.

Thank you to Korda Zone Theatre and Windsor Light Music Theatre for providing the costumes for the re-enactment.
